Course + Retreat

 4 small group classes + a weekend retreat in upstate New York

Let's spend some time together delving deeper into the best parts of meditation: compassion and meaningful connection to ourselves and others. In this small group summer mentorship, material and meditations will build on themselves, allowing participants to develop a strong foundation in compassion. This mentorship consists of:

• Small group guidance and progressive study

• In-depth meditation instruction plus related philosophy

• Small group yoga instruction specifically for meditation (optional)

• Hand-made Yoga for Meditation Handbook

• Suggested homework (2 meditations each week to practice at home)

• Every-day compassion practices (that you can practice at work, etc.)

• Health and media tips (including recipes)

• Meditation resources (including selected readings)

• Class notes

• Weekend Self-Compassion Meditation Retreat (accommodation fee is separate)

Relish the time to practice all you've learned in the course during the height of summer's beauty in a weekend meditation/yoga retreat in the beautiful Catskill Mountains. In addition to yoga and meditation, there will be ample time for swimming, hiking, napping, and old-fashioned relaxing. This weekend is about connecting deeply with yourself and nature. It's structured, but without the stress. No super-long meditation sessions, and yes — you can talk! I hope you'll even sing and dance!


$340 (includes classes, materials, and retreat instruction). Retreat accommodation is separate.

Retreat accommodation for Friday night – Sunday afternoon. Includes all meals. $250 for shared accommodations (2 people per room with a private bath). $330 for a single room with shared bath. Explore 134 acres of woodlands, nature trails, waterfall, gorge, swimming hole, labyrinth, gardens, campfire, and home-grown organic, vegetarian meals.

Weekly classes — THURSDAYS, 6:30-8:15 p.m. on July 13, 20, 27 & August 3, at 28th Street & Broadway

Traveling? No problem. Video conference in, or listen to the audio at your convenience. 

Retreat — August 11–13 at Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center, Upstate NY(2.5 hours by train or car from NYC)

week two / july 20 : learning to mentor ourselves

Meditation: Talking to Yourself like You Would Talk to a Friend

At Home Focus: Developing a gratitude practice


week three / july 27 : compassion in every-day life

Yoga for Rejuvenation: Yoga to calm the nervous system

Meditation: "Emergency/On-the-Spot" Compassion Practices

At Home Focus: Cultivating loving presence


week four / Aug 3 :  Deeply Nurturing ourselves and others

Yoga for Yoga for Strength & Energy: Yoga for building energy and vitality

Meditation: In depth instruction on "Little Me"

week five / aug 11 : retreat

Revitalize yourself in nature, and savor the time to practice the meditations you've learned. Optional yoga is included. You will also learn special advice passed down from my teacher for enjoying retreat (whether solo retreat or group retreats).
