Intro To Buddhist Trantra

A note from Megan: in this 5 day retreat, we'll explore tantra the way it's presented within the Tibetan tradition, namely as the culmination of a gradual path, and also through a historical lens. We'll spend a great deal of time talking about — and practicing compassion meditation, which is the basis of Buddhist tantra. Throughout this retreat, we'll explore scripture, meditation and mantra, while simultaneously learning how to relax into deep practice without over exertion.

Compassion is the foundation of all Vajrayana Buddhist practice and also its goal. Vajrayana is a rich and complex tradition that works with the subtle energies of the body and the imagination as a means of actualizing compassionate activity that is inseparable from non-dual, non-conceptual knowing.

This retreat includes both intellectual as well as experiential learning. Intellectually, participants will learn a brief history and the theoretical basis of the Vajrayana. Experientially, participants will explore traditional compassion meditations that seek to radically expand one’s perception of one’s self and one’s world.
